Eataly, the largest artisanal Italian food and wine marketplace in the world, will open in Piacenza and the city, 30 km from B&B Vacation Rental Borgo di Vigoleno®, will then enter the international circuit of Eataly in the big cities of the world such as Tokyo, New York, Chicago, Milan and Rome.
The headquarters in Cavallerizza of Piacenza will open at the end 2013, as the owner Oscar Farinetti confirm today from New York to local daily newspaper “Libertà”.
Eataly has been founded by Oscar Farinetti, an entrepreneur formerly involved in the consumer electronics business, and sponsored by Slow Food. Mr. Farinetti got his start at UniEuro in 1978, a small appliance and food retail store. He focused on electronics and transformed UniEuro into one of the largest electronics retailers in Italy, opening 150 stores from 1978 to 2003. In 2003, he sold UniEuro and dedicated himself full time to Eataly. Eataly first opened in Turin, Italy in 2007, is a marketplace that will have plenty for visitors to shop, taste and savor including seven full-service eateries, a café, wine shop, bakery and patisserie, and a culinary educational center.
Mr. Farinetti’s aim is to make high-quality Italian foods available to everyone, at fair prices and in an environment where people can shop, taste and learn. The marketplace offer a variety of cured meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables, fresh meats and fish, handmade pastas, desserts, baked goods, coffees and teas, as well as a selection of housewares and books, Italian dried pastas, canned goods, sauces, olive oils and more.
Eataly is also focused in education, with special events occurring year-round including food and wine courses, demonstrations and lectures led by accredited instructors, renowned chefs.
